Daily living assistance is part of our Personal Care Support service, and is about helping you manage the practical side of life – so that the things that can feel overwhelming become manageable, and the things that feel manageable become second nature. At Lanara, we support you to build the routines, skills, and confidence that make everyday life run more smoothly.
Whether you need help with planning your week, managing appointments, getting on top of household tasks, or developing skills for greater independence, our support workers are here to work alongside you – not to do things for you, but to help you do them yourself. Because real independence is built through practice, not dependence.
We believe that the best daily living support is the kind that gradually becomes less necessary. Our goal is not to create reliance – it is to help you develop the skills, routines, and confidence to manage your own life on your own terms.
Daily living challenges are often connected to confidence, anxiety, or executive functioning - not just practical ability. Because our support workers hold university qualifications in the relevant disciplines, they understand the deeper factors that can make everyday tasks feel difficult, and they bring that awareness to every session.
Daily living assistance covers the practical tasks that keep life running – from managing appointments and correspondence to grocery shopping and getting around the community. We support you to handle these things with growing confidence, so that over time they become part of your own routine rather than something you need help with.
Daily living assistance is not just about what happens at home. It is about helping you manage the full picture – from budgeting and planning to getting around your community with confidence. We work alongside you to build the skills and routines that make independent living feel achievable.
Daily living assistance can cover a wide range of practical tasks depending on your goals and support plan. Common areas include meal planning and preparation, household organisation, budgeting and managing finances, using public transport, attending appointments, grocery shopping, and developing routines that help your day run more smoothly. The support is always tailored to what you need and what you are working towards.
Our goal is always to build your independence, not your reliance on us. We work alongside you - teaching skills, building routines, and providing encouragement - so that over time you feel more capable and confident managing daily tasks on your own. The level of hands-on assistance we provide will naturally decrease as your skills and confidence grow.
Our Daily Living Assistance services also fall under Personal Care Support. Personal care support focuses on physical care tasks such as grooming, hygiene, dressing, and morning routines. Daily living assistance is broader and focuses on the practical skills and tasks involved in managing everyday life - things like cooking, budgeting, transport, and household management. Many participants receive both types of support, and we can discuss what combination makes sense for you.
Absolutely. Daily living assistance is particularly well suited to participants who are working towards greater independence - whether that means moving into their own home, managing their own schedule, or simply becoming more confident with everyday tasks. We build your support plan around your specific independence goals and adjust it as you progress.
No. While many of our participants are funded through the NDIS, daily living assistance is available to anyone who would benefit from it. If you are self-funded or accessing support through another arrangement, we are happy to discuss your options. Get in touch and we can talk through what is available to you.
