Lanara provides psychosocial support, social participation, personal care and daily living assistance to adults across St George and Bayside, including Arncliffe, Wolli Creek, Rockdale, Bexley, Kogarah, Brighton-Le-Sands and Hurstville. We are a family-owned provider based in Marrickville, just across the Cooks River, and we support self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants and private clients.
The area takes in two council areas, Bayside and Georges River, and stretches from the airport corridor and Botany Bay beaches to the busy centres of Rockdale, Kogarah and Hurstville. Between them, the two councils had more than 6,200 NDIS participants at 30 June 2026 (NDIS data).
Who can use Lanara in St George and Bayside?
Many of the people we support in St George and Bayside live with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or another condition that affects daily life. Some are managing on their own for the first time; others have family close by and want support that fits around them.
We support self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, as well as private clients who fund their own support. If your NDIS plan is agency-managed (NDIA-managed), you will need to use a registered provider.
Which St George and Bayside suburbs do we support?
- Just across the Cooks River: Arncliffe, Wolli Creek, Turrella, Bardwell Park and Bardwell Valley
- Rockdale, Banksia, Bexley and Bexley North
- Kogarah, Carlton, Brighton-Le-Sands, Ramsgate and Sans Souci
- Hurstville, Penshurst and Kingsgrove
- Mascot, Botany, Eastlakes and Rosebery on the eastern side of Bayside
Several of these suburbs, including Kogarah, Carlton, Ramsgate, Sans Souci and Kingsgrove, are split between councils. That does not matter to us; we go by where you live. If your suburb is not listed, please ask.
What support do we provide in St George and Bayside?
Psychosocial support. Our workers hold degrees in psychology or related fields. They help you settle into routines that work, get through the weeks that feel harder, and keep moving towards the goals in your plan, whether you live near the bay or up the hill in Hurstville.
Social participation. Help to reconnect with the people and places around you, from a walk along the bay at Brighton-Le-Sands to a regular session at the Hurstville pool. Read What Is Social Participation Support? to see how it works.
Personal care. Help with showering, dressing and grooming from a worker chosen with care, with your preferences and privacy respected in your own home.
Daily living assistance. Hands-on help with the practical side of life: meals, cleaning, a trip to Rockdale Plaza or Westfield Hurstville for the weekly shop, bills and appointments.

Can I have a support worker who shares my language?

What makes Lanara different?
We are a small, family-owned team based in Marrickville, and the people who run Lanara are involved in day-to-day support (read our story). Our psychosocial and social participation workers hold degrees in psychology or related fields, which is why we believe mental health training matters in support work. In practice, that means a regular worker who takes the time to understand you, and a team that reads your Support Coordinator’s briefing (with your permission) before the first visit, so you are not starting from scratch.
Are you a Support Coordinator or health professional in St George or Bayside?
If you coordinate supports or treat clients across Bayside and Georges River, we would be glad to hear from you. We read referral information carefully, match workers thoughtfully and keep Support Coordinators and treating professionals in the loop. We can take self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants and private clients. Refer a client.
How do I get started?
The first step is a relaxed, no-obligation chat about what is going on for you and what you would like help with. If we are a good fit, we will talk you through intake and matching; our step-by-step guide shows how that works. If having someone new in your home feels daunting, our guide to feeling at ease with a support worker at home may help.
To talk about support in St George and Bayside, call us on 1300 152 627 (1300-1-LANARA), email info@lanara.com.au, or send us a message. Support Coordinators and health professionals can make a referral online.
Frequently asked questions about support in St George and Bayside
Do you cover both Bayside and Georges River council areas?
Yes. We support people in suburbs across both councils, from Arncliffe and Rockdale to Kogarah and Hurstville. Council boundaries do not affect your support.
Can you help me get to appointments at St George Hospital?
Yes. Getting to and from appointments is a common part of daily living and psychosocial support. Your support worker can help you plan the trip, travel with you and help you keep track of what was discussed.
Is Marrickville too far away?
No. Marrickville sits just north of the Cooks River from Tempe and Arncliffe. We will always be upfront about whether we can reliably support your suburb.
My NDIS plan is agency-managed. Can you still help?
Not directly. We work with self-managed and plan-managed participants and private clients. If you would like more choice of providers, you can ask the NDIA to change how your plan is managed at any time.
Do you support people who live with family?
Yes. Plenty of people we support live with parents, partners or adult children. We are happy to involve your family in the way you choose, and our guide for families and carers explains how.
