Lanara provides psychosocial support, social participation, personal care and daily living assistance to adults in Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay, including Burwood, Enfield, Strathfield, Homebush, Concord, Five Dock and Drummoyne. We are a family-owned provider based in Marrickville in the Inner West, and we support self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants and private clients.
These three council areas sit just west of the Inner West and share much of its character, from the busy shopping and dining centres of Burwood and Strathfield to the quieter waterfront streets of Concord, Abbotsford and Drummoyne. Together they are part of the NDIA’s Sydney service district, where 18.2% of NDIS participants have a primary psychosocial disability, about double the NSW rate of 8.6% (NDIS data, June 2026).
Who can use Lanara in Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay?
People come to us from Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay with a wide range of needs, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other conditions that affect daily life. Some are students or young professionals; others are older adults who have lived in the area for decades.
We support self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, as well as private clients who fund their own support. If your NDIS plan is agency-managed (NDIA-managed), you will need to use a registered provider.
Which suburbs do we support?
- Burwood: Burwood, Burwood Heights, Enfield, Croydon and Croydon Park
- Strathfield: Strathfield, Strathfield South, Homebush, Homebush West and Flemington
- Canada Bay: Concord, Concord West, North Strathfield, Five Dock, Drummoyne, Abbotsford, Cabarita, Mortlake, Breakfast Point, Rhodes, Russell Lea, Rodd Point and Wareemba
Croydon and Croydon Park are shared with the Inner West, so you may also find our Inner West page useful. If your suburb is not listed, please ask.
What support do we provide here?
Psychosocial support. Practical, goal-focused support from workers with degrees in psychology or related fields: building routines, managing stress, staying on top of appointments and making steady progress on your plan goals.
Social participation. Help to get out and reconnect, whether that is a gentle walk on the Bay Run, a morning at the community shed in Concord or a swim at Drummoyne in the warmer months. Read What Is Social Participation Support? to see how it works.
Personal care. Dignified help with showering, dressing and grooming, from a worker matched to you and your preferences.
Daily living assistance. Help with meals, housework, shopping trips to Burwood or Rhodes, paperwork and appointments, so there is more energy left for the rest of your life.
Where can support take you locally?
- Enfield Aquatic Centre (Burwood Council) closed in July 2026 for redevelopment and is expected to reopen in 2029.
- Harry’s Shed in Concord, the City of Canada Bay’s community shed, is open to both men and women on weekday mornings, a relaxed place to work on projects and meet people.
- The Bay Run, a 7 km path around Iron Cove, passes through Five Dock, Rodd Point, Russell Lea and Drummoyne. It is largely flat, and it is easy to do just part of it.
- Drummoyne Swimming Centre has a heated outdoor pool that opens from spring to autumn.
- Getting around: Burwood and Strathfield are major train and bus hubs. Sydney Metro West is planned to add stations at Five Dock and Burwood North around 2032. We can help you plan and practise routes.
Which local services do we work alongside?
With your consent, we are happy to work alongside the services you already use, such as:
- Your GP, psychologist, psychiatrist or other treating team
- Sydney Local Health District mental health services, including the Concord Centre for Mental Health at Concord Hospital
- headspace Ashfield (Level 2, 320 Liverpool Rd), the nearest headspace for young people aged 12 to 25
- SSI, the NDIS Local Area Coordination partner for the area, which has an office in Ashfield
- Your Support Coordinator, plan manager and family
Can I have a support worker who shares my language?
Burwood and Strathfield are among the most linguistically diverse parts of Sydney, with large Mandarin, Cantonese, Nepali and Korean-speaking communities. Please ask us which languages are represented in our team when you contact us. We will be honest about what we can offer and will never promise a match we cannot provide.
What makes Lanara different?
A small team next door. Lanara is family-owned and based in Marrickville, a short trip from Croydon and Ashfield. The people who run the business are involved in support every day. Read our story.
Workers who understand mental health. Our psychosocial and social participation workers hold degrees in psychology or related fields, and here is why that matters.
No starting from scratch. With your permission, we ask your Support Coordinator for a briefing before we meet you, and we aim to keep the same worker with you week to week.
Are you a Support Coordinator or health professional in this area?
Lanara takes referrals for self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants and private clients across Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay. Support Coordinators and allied health and medical professionals can expect careful matching and regular updates, including for clients with complex or co-occurring needs. Send us a referral.
How do I get started?
Give us a call or send a message, and we will set up a no-obligation conversation, in person or by phone, to understand what you need. Our step-by-step guide explains intake, matching and your first sessions. If having someone new in your home feels daunting, our guide to feeling at ease with a support worker at home may help. Family members and carers are welcome to contact us on your behalf, with your permission, and our guide for families and carers explains how we can support you too.

Frequently asked questions about support in Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay
Do you support people in Rhodes and Concord West?
Yes. We support people across the City of Canada Bay, including Rhodes, Concord West and North Strathfield. If you are unsure whether we cover your street, just ask.
Can support include exercise, like swimming or walking?
Yes, where it fits your goals and your plan. Many people use social participation support for regular, gentle activity such as walking the Bay Run or swimming at Drummoyne Swimming Centre in the warmer months. We are support workers, not exercise physiologists, so we are happy to follow a program from your health professional.
Can you help me get to appointments at Concord Hospital?
Yes. Getting to and from appointments is a common part of our support. Your support worker can help you plan the trip, travel with you and help you keep track of what was discussed.
Can you work with my agency-managed NDIS plan?
No. We can only support self-managed and plan-managed participants and private clients.
Can a family member help set up my support?
Yes. With your permission, a family member, carer or guardian can join the first conversation and stay involved in planning your support.
